Looking Back and Moving Forward
Every year, the hubs and I sit down and talk about things we’d like to do that next year and adventures we’d like to take. Some are small ones and some are bigger ones. This is basically my hand-chosen fave images from our adventures in 2018. And yep, I know, it’s the end of January and I’m only now blogging about my fave images from last year. But better late than never, right? It was more difficult narrowing theses down than I thought it would be!
Before I continue, I want to be honest: we had our share of ups and downs in 2018. I know social media and the internet can be full of only highlights and tend to hide the not fun times in the shadows. Trust me, our family had some bumpy times this last year. But I’m trying so hard to focus on the good, because as bad as some of the those “lows” were, there were some pretty awesome good times too.
I also wanted to let you know that I’m participating in a blog loop with some photographer friends of mine. So make sure to check out the link at the bottom of my post to see they’re beautiful images!
Okay, so now on to our 2018 Adventures!
Since our daughter is getting older (read: getting better at taking naps in the car), we took a few trips out of town this year, some longer, some shorter. We explored Colorado Springs, Omaha, Nebraska and Downtown Kansas City.
We also had “stay-cation” adventures in our own town. We went to Britt’s Garden Acres, a local farm, several times this year to pick strawberries, go to their pumpkin patch and even visited their sunflower field.
We went to a few sporting events, including the Husker-Kansas State University baseball game (a tradition since before the kiddo was born. If you couldn’t tell, my husband roots for the “other” team) and the first Kansas State University football game of the year (my daughter’s first football game ever).
My daughter also jumped on a friend’s trampoline and played in her splash pad quite a bit. Let’s also not forget that she and I splash in the rain, every chance we get.
It really was a fun year. Like I said, since our daughter is getting older, we got to try some new adventures, and I feel I grew leaps and bounds in my photography. Funny how “practice” will do that to you. ;)
Now for that fun blog circle I was telling you about! For more amazing images, please check out my friend Anna who is an Asian Vacation Photographer and read her wonderful post about the importance of photos of your family’s vacation (clearly, I’m a big fan of this!). ;)
It was a busy and exciting year for our little family and I can’t wait to see what 2019 will bring! Happy (albeit late) New Year!
Till next time…
