Sunflower Fields and Photography Mini Sessions
Kansas is known as the "Sunflower State" and for good reason. We seem to have quite a few fields over the state that bloom at various times in the Fall.
The flowers are so very, very beautiful and bees and butterflies are all over them. If you get close enough, you can see bumble bees coated in yellow pollen.
The last 2 years, I've offered Sunflower Mini Sessions the week or 2 the flowers are in bloom. I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about the flowers blooming because the timing for the sessions has to be just right. Two weeks before they "usually" bloom, I start driving by the field every other day to check on their progress. Then the week leading into it, I drive by at least every day.
One evening before my sessions start, I usually take my daughter out in the field to wander around. If you've followed my work for any amount of time, you can tell that I love to capture the inquisitive nature of my daughter, especially when it comes to the outdoors. She's gotten to the point now that, well before the field blooms, any time we drive by she points to the empty field and tells me "That's where the sunflowers are, Mommy. I want to go see them when they grow."
And as much as I love capturing my daughter exploring these fields, I absolutely love capturing my clients there. If you've ever wondered what your images from one of my Sunflower Minis might look like, check some of my faves from last year below.
These sunflowers are somewhat iconic of our state and I feel they capture a family's time in Kansas perfectly. My Sunflower Minis are now booking! Click Start Your Story to message me for more details and snag your spot before they're all gone!
Till next time…
