The Secret to Brand Photos That Last All Year

What will you be doing 3 weeks from now?

Oddly specific, I know. But really, think about it, what events do you have going on in life, in business, in…well, anywhere but social media land?

No matter what, Future You would probably like to avoid crying into a third cup of coffee trying to post something on Instagram...

In fact, she would love it if you handled this now.

While we all have those indecisive moments of trying to decide what to post on social media, not having enough images shouldn’t be the reason. One brand shoot done right can give you months of content, and no, it doesn’t require 57 outfit changes and a vision board meltdown.

That “WHAT do I even post now?!” panic?

Predictable. But avoidable.

When you get the right photos from the start, it makes marketing consistently a breeze. Because consistency in marketing isn’t about volume; it’s about visibility, and a carefully and well planned brand and product photo shoot can get you all that, and a bag of chips.

So then, what is needed to make your brand shoot work so hard for you?

There are 3 things you as a business owner can do, to bring your A-game when it comes to investing in brand photography:

01. Think about the season ahead.

Typically my clients book their brand sessions a few months out and when they do, they’re often planning for the next quarter in their business. The launches they have coming (whether they’re seasonal or new services or even evergreen offers), any promotions they’ll be running in their business, or the upcoming holiday season (psssst: shoot for Q4 in Q3 so you don’t have to race around for your Small Business Saturday promo!), my clients often come to me for future offers. The only time they need brand photos “in the moment” is when their launch is a brand new business or they’re rebranding entirely.

02. Create a content list or content themes beforehand.

One of the things we do during brand sessions is build our time around your content needs. That’s where your content buckets (or storylines or whatever other fancy term you’ve heard) comes in. We combine your buckets with your answers from #1 and create around that. So having those listed ahead of time (oh, and sharing them with your photographer) will aid in that purposeful creation of brand images.

03. Share your must-haves and needs with your photographer so we can shoot smarter.

I love a good plan and our brand session is absolutely no exception. So knowing what you need for your content buckets and upcoming offers is imperative for creating a plan. Without knowing that, my plan won’t be nearly as effective or helpful for you and it could actually make your investment fall flat (don’t worry, we have a planning call right before your photo shoot and I ask you all about these questions). This plan combined with my creativity creates a flexible plan that kicks “winging it” to the curb.

When you’re not excited about your marketing, it totally shows. When you’re just posting because “why not” or because you’re afraid of what will happen if you don’t, your audience can totally feel that. And they’ll be less likely to buy from you.

Marketing from a place of rest and not hustle helps you show up authentically and genuine every time. This is the magic place where you connect with your audience and turn them into raving customers.

This leaves you AND them feeling fulfilled.

Burnout doesn’t book clients, but a well-planned photo can.
