3 Things To Have in Place Before Booking
When I got married, “wedding planners” were only for the extra-super-big-and-fancy weddings and Pinterest was just a gleam in a developer’s eye.
I planned my wedding from the start to the finish. For months and months I grabbed bridal magazines and talked to friends who had gotten married, all while trying to balance my “wants and wishes” with the actual dollar signs I had in front of me.
To say I was overwhelmed was an understatement (and we didn’t have a large wedding).
As a small business owner, if you need to plan a Branding Photo Session, the overwhelm can be as real as it was for me planning my own wedding.
And feel just as expensive too.
Lucky for you, I’ve put together 3 things I think every business owner should do before booking their Brand Photos:
#1: Know Your Ideal Client
Your Brand Photo Session should be tailored to your business, to reach your ideal client.
But if you don't know who that is, what they like, what problem of theirs you solve, it's a tad difficult to capture images that really connect with them. Invest your time in truly knowing them and you will reap the benefit of your Brand Photo Investment 100 times over!
#2: Know Your Wants and Needs for the Session
Do you need an updated headshot? Do you really need an awesome hero image for your website? Do you have a big launch coming up that you need a plethora of really great photos for? Listing out all these needs will help make sure you have every one of them met.
#3: Make a Mood Board
This is a really great way to get inspiration for props, poses, colors and different types of shots for your session. Use Pinterest or magazines, but limit yourself to no more than 35 images. This way, you can really nail down exactly what you want and not get sucked down an inspiration hole going nowhere.
Now you’re off to a great start!
But hold on, what do you do with all these things you’ve compiled??
You communicate them with your Photographer!!!
I can't emphasize enough that you need to be sharing all your wants, needs and inspiration with your photographer. They want to make your brand sensational with these photos. Being honest and upfront with your needs and wants will help them plan better. A better plan will produce better results!
Okay, so, where are you on this list?
If you’re still working on these things, then go all in on them! Take your time and enjoy the process. It’s okay to wait on pro brand photos till these things are more ironed out!
However, if you have these basic things down, then a Brand Session might be for you!
